The NSSO collects and manages employer and employee social contributions used to finance the various branches of social security. It collects and distributes the basic administrative data for other social security institutions.

2013-06-19 - Students and employers are satisfied with Student@work

On December 1st 2011 the National Social Security Office (NSSO) has started Student@work, a project destined to manage the introduction of the new rules on student work. On the basis of statistical data and of the results of a proper poll, the NSSO has recently reported to the National Labour Council (NAR/CNT) on the experiences acquired after the first anniversary of Student@work. Which are the effects of the new legislation? To which extent have the instruments provided for by the NSSO functioned properly ? The results seem to be positive.

As from June 3rd 2013, the Nivelles regional office of the NSSO will be available to you at the Palais de Justice II (courthouse). The visiting hours remain unchanged.

2013-05-15 - Students have never before worked as much as in the year 2012

Never before have students worked as much as throughout 2012. The importance of student work has risen in 2012 by 16%, compared to 2011, in order to attain almost 9 million days, as it appears from the statistics of the National Social Security Office (NSSO). Moreover students are constantly to a lesser extent dependent upon a particular season: a growing number of students is working throughout the whole year.

2013-01-24 - Student work : once again a rise during the summer months

In the third quarter of 2012 the number of days of student work has gone up by 7%, compared to the year 2011. This appears from the latest figures of the National Social Security Office (NSSO). It means that the considerable increase which already occurred during the first six months of 2012 has not manifested itself at the expense of the more classical form of student work during the summer season.

2012-11-30 - State Secretary John Crombez presents the electronic application Dolsis of the National Social Security Office (NSSO)

This morning John Crombez, State Secretary for the fight against tax and social fraud, has presented the application Dolsis. Dolsis, a joint initiative of the NSSO (National Security Office) and the CBSS (Crossroads Bank for Social Security) is a new electronic application which gives public institutions of all levels a secure and direct access to the data of the NSSO. According to John Crombez, this application constitutes a concrete example of the crossing of data bases.

This week the candidates for the eGov Awards 2012 have been announced. The NSSO has been nominated for three projects: the eBox for citizens, Dolsis and User Management.

2012-10-12 - Student work: +36% during the first six months of the year

In the first half of 2012 students have sizeably worked more than during the same period of last year. This can be inferred from the figures offered by the National Social Security Office (NSSO). A student earns on average 68.30 euros a day. The system of student work seems to be most popular in the age bracket between 18 and 21 years of age.

Rapid estimations of employment – Second quarter of 2012

The worsening economic situation has induced the fact that during the first half of 2012 the growth of the employment rate has come practically to a complete standstill. The number of jobs registered on June 30 2012 has even fallen by 0.4% compared to the situation on June 30 2011. The decrease can be noticed in the 3 important sections of the labour market, i.e. "Industry and Construction" (-0.6 % in jobs), "Commercial services" (-0.5%) and "Non commercial services" (+0.0 %).
